With the 2023 State of Origin series already decided after NSW slumped to a 32-6 loss in Wednesday’s second game, attention turns to the final game of the series, and the personnel changes the Blues could make for the series dead-rubber.
On The Saturday Scrum on Triple M NRL, Tony Squires, Ryan Girdler, Brent Read and Ben Te’o put forward some in-form players who could come into calculations for NSW ahead of Game III.

Blues great Ryan Girdler was strong in his opinions of the NSW camp, outlining that the fact the series is already decided is a great opportunity to blood some uncapped players with an eye on 2024.
“Going into that last game, it is about opportunity,” he said.
“I would rather give guys an opportunity and lose 3-0 than pick the same guys, and go in and lose 2-1.
For me, we’ve lost the series, so what we need to do is try and get something out of the third game that’s going to put us in a better position for next year’s series.”
