Raygun the musical to go ahead after legal threat backfired

Raygun the musical by Aussie comedian Stephanie Broadbridge will go ahead despite early legal threats from Olympic breaker Rachael Gunn and her lawyers.

The reworked version will be called Breaking: The Musical. The comedian took to Instagram yesterday to announce the show calling it “a completely legal parody musical”.

Gunnwas criticised for demanding $10,000 to cover legal fees from the owner of a small Sydney comedy club that planned to stage the original show.

The owner described the recent dispute as “a stressful time”.

Breaking the Musical, starring Stephanie Broadbridge, will open in Adelaide in March before touring to Melbourne and Sydney.

“It’s exactly the same, but I won’t be using her name,” Broadbridge said.

“She is not and continues not to be attached to this project in any way. I have changed the name of the show and the silhouette and will not use her name or the silhoutte ever again..”   
 
She also teased storylines featuring other Australian icons including Paul Keating, Shane Warne and Schapelle Corby.   
 
For her part, the Oympic B-Girl also took to Instagram, saying all legal issues had been resolved, wishing Steph and the show all the best.
