Malcolm Turnbull Unfiltered: World Leaders, Thugs And Complex Characters

What would Malcolm Turnbull do if he was currently the leader of Israel? How would he describe Benjamin Netanyahu?

These are just some of the things the former prime minister of Australia discusses with Antoinette Lattouf on The Weekend Briefing.

Mr Turnbull has on the record described Peter Dutton as a “thug”, and Vladimir Putin as a “tyrant”, and now he opens up on Netanyahu.

Listen now to Malcolm Turnbull’s chat with Antoinette Lattouf here:

Agreeing with Lattouf that Netanyahu could also be described as a bully and tyrant, Mr Turnball also described the Israeli leader as “complex”.

“I’ve known him for years, he can be very charming, he’s very bright.” Mr Turnbull said.

“He’s operating in a very tough, brutal political environment and frankly, strategic environment.”

So with that in mind, what would Mr Turnbull do if he was Israel’s prime minister for a day?

“I would say this perception or this rhetoric of eradicating Hamas, I think is impossible,” he said.

“You’re not going to eradicate a resistance.”
