NSW Police Force sent their “thoughts and condolences” to Mrs Nowland’s loved ones in a statement released on social media.

“Mrs Nowland passed away peacefully in hospital just after 7pm this evening, surrounded by family and loved ones who have requested privacy during this sad and difficult time,” the statement said.

“Our thoughts and condolences remain with those who were lucky enough to know, love, and be loved by Mrs Nowland during a life she led hallmarked by family, kindness and community.”

Mrs Nowland, who suffered from dementia, was allegedly tasered by senior constable Kristian White when she was found with a steak knife at her Yallambee Lodge aged care facility.

Senior constable White was stood down from duties before being charged with three offences: assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault and recklessly causing grievous bodily harm.

The maximum penalty for the charges is 10 years in prison.
