ADAM Levine has credited his role on the US version of The Voice for boosting his band Maroon 5’s profile.
Adam was a judge on the Voice from 2011 to 2019, during which time his band revived their flagging career with hits including Moves Like Jagger, Payphone and Sugar.
“It was all so crazy, I think we knew the potential of it, but I don’t think we really realised it would be so far reaching,” Levine told LiSTNR podcast Front and Centre with Ella Hooper.
“It’s funny because it’s a really incredible way to promote the band but also just a lot of fun, it was a cool change of pace for me to do it. But it’s changed our lives drastically. Even the way we release our songs, you put a song out on that show and it’s bang, instantaneous.”
Levine says the band’s broad musical scope has kept them having hits now 20 years after their hit debut Songs About Jane.
“We don’t really fit into a box. We’re not exactly precisely one thing. That’s always worked to our advantage. First it was something that hurt us, now we’re a little bit of everything, so it’s nice to be able to take from different places.”
