Brendan Fevola reveals that he was rejected by Carlton-forward Harry McKay after he offered them an opportunity for a goal-kicking session.
Fevola, who clocked up an impressive 623 goals during his illustrious 11-year career with Carlton and Brisbane, mentioned in a recent episode of Footy Talk he didn’t want to teach the AFL star, but just to help him with pointers.
Brendan Fevola on Harry McKay rejection HERE:
“I reached out to David Teague when he was the coach of Carlton… i said ‘mate, I’d love to do some goal kicking with Harry'” Fev explains.
“I can see some flaws, I might not be able to teach him anything but it’d be great to go down, have a chat and he might pick up something little… this is nothing against Harry”
“Harry said no, which is fair enough.”
Fevola did admit that McKay went on to win the Coleman Medal that year anyway.
Brendan Fevola also revealed that he received mentorship himself for goal kicking from AFL veteran and commentator Brian Taylor.
