Alex Pearce on Being Named Captain of the Fremantle Dockers

Alex Pearce joined Embers and Katie on the Rush Hour to discuss his recent appointment as captain of the Fremantle Dockers, taking over from Nat Fyfe. He shared his thoughts on the challenges and responsibilities of being a captain and his plans for leading the team in the 2023 AFL season. He also talked about why he was chosen over his teammates, Caleb Serong and Andy Brayshaw.

“Captain or skip is the only thing i’m going by,” Alex jokes on the Rush Hour with Embers and Katie.

Embers jokes asking Alex if he has to chop his luscious locks and rock the “short back and sides” for his new captaincy.

“I’d like to see Peter Bell and JL pin me down and try and cut my hair.”

He then shares what was going through his head when he got promoted to captain.

“It’s a very humbling experience..they think very highly of me and respect me.”

Katie challenges Alex by asking him why he was chosen over Caleb Serong and Andy Brayshaw as the Fremantle captain.

“Maybe that experience that i’ve had…i’m very driven to get the most out of everyone because I know how fleeting that experience can be.”

“I definitely want to be able to do it my way. I think part of the reason why i’ve been voted in is because i’m authentic and try and be myself and try and be pretty honest to who I am.”
