Damian Barrett has paid tribute to “the off-field giant of the game” Ron Joseph, after the North Melbourne and Sydney powerbroker passed away on Tuesday night.
Joseph is credited with bringing a host of club legends to North, including Ron Barassi which led to the 1975 and 1977 VFL flags. He was also part of the group that brought Tony Lockett and Paul Roos to Sydney in 1994.
Damo says Joseph was “THE off-field giant of the game.”
“Is he the number one off-field person? I’d happily have Ron Joseph in that conversation.
“Part of the mystique too about the persuasiveness was the famous stacked brown paper bags, which he denied for a few years and now just used to talk quite happily about!”
