The big talking point in New Zealand’s 29-22 victory over Manly last night was the controversial hit on Reuben Garrick by Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad.
Triple M’s Ryan Girdler thinks that referees need use their discretion on dangerous hits, even if the tackle in question was technically legal.
“Black or white to the letter of the law it’s not a penalty, but we can’t have that in our game.” said Girdler
“It needed to be adjudicated that way..”
“Common sense needs to prevail.”
A 71st minute field goal attempt by Daly Cherry-Evans was charged down, Reuben Garrick attempted to collect the bouncing ball but had his legs chopped out by Nicoll-Klokstad in a potentially dangerous incident.
