Triple M’s and dual code legend Wendell Sailor has questioned the Sharks’ decision to hand Nicho Hynes a monster contract extension, declaring “we don’t know in the next couple of years what he’s going to do.”
LISTEN HERE:
The Sharks on Thursday night confirmed Hynes, the reigning Dally M Medallist, had put pen to paper on a five-year contract extension, with the deal reportedly worth in the ballpark of $1 million per season.
While Sailor made it clear he’s happy for Hynes and the club, the four-time Broncos premiership winner questioned whether it was too much to pay for a player who hasn’t represented his state or country.
“I know he’s a good player and a good kid, but that’s a lot of money… that’s virtually $1 million without playing Origin, without playing for Australia,” Sailor said on Triple M’s NRL coverage.
