Jack Wighton has sprung a contract bombshell just five rounds into the 2023 NRL season.
Wighton has informed current club the Canberra Raiders he will hit the open market and field offers from rival clubs.
Triple M’s Mark Geyer reacted to the news on Wednesday’s edition of Mick & MG In The Morning.
Wighton signed a five-year deal with the Raiders beginning in 2020.
The 30-year-old has player options in his contract for the 2023 & 2024 season.
He must notify the Raiders by Round 10 if he is taking up that option for 2024, worth a reported $900,000.
