Melbourne captain Max Gawn has taken the Marty Sheargold Show inside Brayden Maynard’s now infamous visit to Angus Brayshaw’s house this week.
Max explained that Maynard was apologetic and contrite when arriving at the house, and that the reception wasn’t warm but also wasn’t as frosty as had been portrayed.
“It’s what I expected for a guy that hit someone, well, knocked someone out… accidentally the night before,” Max said.
“We weren’t on the couch watching Thank God You’re Here.
“We weren’t having a genuinely good time, but it was certainly not the reports that have come out.”

Max explained that Maynard has many connections to Melbourne.
“Christian (Petracca) was there as well, everyone knew each other,” Max said.
“We played with Brayden’s brother (Corey) three or four years ago, his dad works at the club, so there’s a phenomenal connection between Maynards and pretty much everyone at the football club.“

Max also had an update one of the more contentious elements of the evening — the famous flowers that reportedly never made it to a vase.
He said he personally could refute that claim.
“I put the flowers in a vase,” Max said.
“I took them out of the wrapper… and apparently, I got a text later that night from Danielle (Frawley, Brayshaw’s fiancee) that I picked the wrong vase.
“I picked a pink vase, I thought it suited the flowers!”
Max also had some intel on the bottle of wine Maynard brought around.
“I put the wine in the cellar as well,” he said.
“It was a Penfolds as well!”

Max also discussed the upcoming semi-final against Carlton, gave an update on Brayshaw’s recovery, his (allegedly) broken toe and more.
