Teenage Surfer Dies After Fatal Shark Attack in South Australia

South Australian Police have confirmed a 15-year-old boy was killed in a shark attack on the Yorke Peninsula on Thursday.

The Maslin Beach local’s body was recovered from the water yesterday afternoon after police recieved reports of a shark attack near Ethel Beach in the Innes National Park, almost 300 km from Adelaide.

Tributes have poured in, with South Australian Premier, Peter Malinauskas describing the killing as “brutal” and “horrific”.

“Particularly at this time of year, family getting together, it’s pretty brutal. And, naturally, our thoughts go out to the family, ” Malinauskas told the Today Show this morning.

Malinauskas went on to say he believed there was little that could have been done to prevent the attack which marked the fifth in SA and the third death in the state this year.
