Snowtown Murders Accomplice Mark Ray Haydon To Walk Free

An accomplice in the Snowtown ‘bodies in barrels’ murders, Mark Ray Haydon, will walk free after 25 years in custody.

The South Australian Government is attempting to have legislation rewritten to criminalise interfering with human remains, which would have kept Haydon behind bars.

Despite this, the state’s parole board decided he will be released early so they can enact a parole period.

Stay up-to-date on the latest news with The South Australia Briefing – keeping you in the loop with news as it hits:

The board’s Presiding Member Frances Nelson KC said, “His compliance with prison rules and regulations has been such that we’re confident he will comply with parole conditions”.

Haydon was not convicted for murder, but for helping to cover up seven of the killings in one of Australia’s most notorious crime cases.

Hear about the case from the forensic expert who examined the barrels on this episode of Crime Insiders: Foresnics.
