Outraged parents have rallied behind a Melbourne lollipop man, who was banned from high-fiving students amid safety concerns.
The lollipop man, John Doulden, would high-five children as they drove past.
Hundreds have signed a petition to lift the ban, put in place by a Victorian council that found it was a safety risk following a parent complaint.

Parent and petition organiser Rohan Bradley said Goulden has an “infectious joy that leaves a lasting impression on students and parents.”
A Queensland lollipop man, BJ, told LiSTNR newsroom journalists other workers are now worried they will have to give up the friendly gesture too.
“The kids love it, and I know a lot of the parents do too, but I’m just worried from hearing that story this morning that – do I stop now?” BJ said.
