There are renewed calls for more to be done about youth crime following the brazen carjacking of a man on Bulimba on Sunday.
A man was reversing out of his driveway on Harrison Street at around 2:20PM on Sunday, June 4 when he was allegedly approached by two teens with a knife and shovel.
The two teens are alleged to have threatened the man to hand over the Audi A3.
The man allowed the teens access to the vehicle and was not injured during the incident.
The car was found abandoned on Elizabeth Street at Stones Corner a short time later.
A 17-year-old boy has since been arrested and charged in relation to the crime.
The teen has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, possess dangerous drugs and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
Investigations are ongoing and a second teen is yet to be arrested in relation to the alleged carjacking.
The alleged crime has renewed calls for the Premier to address the state’s youth crime problem after statistics showed harsher penalties for breach of bail offences have had little impact on the Queensland crime rate.
