Alec Baldwin Could Face More Manslaughter Charges Following New Report

Actor Alec Baldwin could be facing more manslaughter charges following the release of a forensic report on Wednesday.

The report shows that the actor’s Colt .45 revolver allegedly could only be set off if the trigger is manually pulled.

Baldwin was charged with involuntary man slaughter in 2021 following the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie Rust.

The charges against Baldwin were later dropped when it was determined that the gun had been modified prior to the shooting.

Baldwin has continued to deny that he pulled the trigger of the gun that killed 42-year-old Hutchins.

A new forensic examination of the gun was ordered by the case’s special prosecutors Jason Lewis and Kari Morrissey with the results of the report released in a public court filing today.

According to the report, the gun was reconstructed and tested and it was concluded that the weapon could not fire without the trigger being pulled.

“This fatal incident was the consequence of the hammer being manually retracted to its fully rearward and cocked position followed, at some point, by the pull or rearward depression of the trigger,” the report stated.

“Although Alec Baldwin repeatedly denies pulling the trigger, given the tests, findings and observations reported here, the trigger had to be pulled or depressed sufficiently to release the fully cocked or retracted hammer of the evidence revolver.”

Prosecutors have previously said that Baldwin is likely to be charged again pending the results of the report.
