The Music Ed Sheeran Plays His Daughter

When he’s not taking his two kids around the world on his global touring Ed Sheeran is introducing them to one of his passions.

Ed has become a full blown vinyl disciple and he’s even getting his kids involved in his passion.

The million-selling musician even dropped three tracks from his latest album Equals to make sure it would fit on a single vinyl disc.

“What I like about vinyl is one there’s no skips, you put it on and you listen to it,” Ed told Essential Vinyl on LiSTNR.

When he’s not on tour – including his current run of Australian stadiums – Ed has a regular routine involving being a dad and a vinyl lover.

“I get up in the morning and make my daughter porridge and every single morning I put a vinyl on. Mushroom Records kindly sent me every single release they’ve ever done on vinyl. I have this stack of vinyl Michael Gudinski was involved in. I’m making them through one by one, the Ferrets, Split Enz… “

Ed says he loves how vinyl makes listeners consume the album the way the artist intended.

“I hate shuffle. I hate putting on David Gray’s White Ladder, it starts with Please Forgive Me and I go for a run and suddenly it skips to This Year’s Love and you think ‘No, it’s not meant to be this way!'”
