When he’s not taking his two kids around the world on his global touring Ed Sheeran is introducing them to one of his passions.
Ed has become a full blown vinyl disciple and he’s even getting his kids involved in his passion.
The million-selling musician even dropped three tracks from his latest album Equals to make sure it would fit on a single vinyl disc.
“What I like about vinyl is one there’s no skips, you put it on and you listen to it,”Ed told Essential Vinyl on LiSTNR.
When he’s not on tour – including his current run of Australian stadiums – Ed has a regular routine involving being a dad and a vinyl lover.
“I get up in the morning and make my daughter porridge and every single morning I put a vinyl on. Mushroom Records kindly sent me every single release they’ve ever done on vinyl. I have this stack of vinyl Michael Gudinski was involved in. I’m making them through one by one, the Ferrets, Split Enz… “
Ed says he loves how vinyl makes listeners consume the album the way the artist intended.
“I hate shuffle. I hate putting on David Gray’s White Ladder, it starts with Please Forgive Me and I go for a run and suddenly it skips to This Year’s Love and you think ‘No, it’s not meant to be this way!'”
