FREMANTLE band Spacey Jane have revealed the song they wanted released as a single from their new album.
Their second album, Here Comes Everybody, debuted at No.1 on the ARIA chart this week.
The quartet have already released six tracks from the album, starting with last year’s ‘Lots of Nothing‘.
However they wanted to release album track ‘Yet’ as a single.
Frontman Caleb Harper said it was written on a synthesizer – unusual for the indie rock band.
“The whole song was built up backwards, not really using guitars,” Caleb told Linda Marigliano. Listen:
“There’s some cool chord changes, I’m singing in a way I wouldn’t normally sing. It’s got this long-building chorus I’m really happy with and I wish we’d put it out as a single. But the powers that be said ‘not this time’.”
Bassist Peppa Lane is hoping the song becomes a fan favourite live.
“It’s the sort of one you can picture playing live, you can image being on stage and connecting with the audience. I’m excited to play it.”
Linda Marigliano’s extended Spacey Jane interview is available on the LiSTNR app now.
