Imagine dealing with “really serious” criminal cases in a court of law?
Do you think judges get affected by the “trauma” of dealing with the victims and the perpetuators of serious crime?
Ever wondered what occupation a judge writes on his or her passport?
Pete, Matt and Kymba spoke with The Hon Chief Justice Peter Damien Quinlan about what’s it actually like to be a judge.
Amongst many, many topics, The Hon Chief Justice speaks about the importance of the courtroom and why we do what we do in a “civilised community”.
“A civil community resolves its disputes in a calm, civilised way,
“Most of the time, you go into a criminal court room, that’s what you’ll see. If you go into a murder trial, you don’t see a person who looks like they may have just committed a murder,
“You see a person who’s been accused, who’s going through a process, and it’s generally speaking, a peaceful process.”
