Emergency services rushed her to Townsville University Hospital with life-threatening injuries, and reports indicate she has lost an arm due to the attack.

Queensland Police confirmed that officers had to euthanize the dog after attempts to control it were unsuccessful.

The attack reportedly happened near the front door of the property, but details about the dog’s ownership remain unclear.

This incident follows a similar attack in Victoria, where a woman was hospitalised in critical condition after being bitten by a dog in Melbourne’s southeast on Thursday.

Authorities are investigating both incidents.

The Townsville community is reeling from the attack, and local residents are urged to remain vigilant around dogs in residential areas.

As the investigation continues, police and hospital officials have not released further details about the victim’s condition or the circumstances surrounding the dog’s ownership.
