AFL CEO Andrew Dillon spoke to Triple M’s Saturday Rub about the Opening Round initiative to kick off season 2024, and the observations moving forward.
“Four sellout crowds, number one rated show on Channel Seven, and membership [increases] for the NSW and Queensland clubs, I think it’s an unqualified success.”
Dillon said there’s no immediate need for an opening round game to be played in Melbourne.
“We’ll review it, but I think what helped it be the success, was the focus on NSW and Queensland.”
