Max Gawn has condemned homophobic slurs by recent AFL players, telling Triple M’s Marty Sheargold Show that it must be stamped out of the game.
“It’s embarrassing to call yourself an AFL player, you’re slapped with a brand,” Gawn said.
“Hopefully we’ve learned a lesson and can move forward.”
Suns defender Will Powell was hit with a five-match ban for using a homophobic word against the Lions, which follows the three-match ban placed on Port’s Jeremy Finlayson for a similar action.
