NRL super-coach Wayne Bennett has been exposed by Dolphins player Mark Nicholls, who has revealed that Bennett is involved in the media a lot more than what he leads on.
Bennett has always been a master at working the media to his advantage, and his press conferences have become must watch TV for rugby league fans. He’s notorious for always pointing out to reporters who take him to task over headlines in the press that he doesn’t read what they’re writing or listen to what they’re saying about him, but that myth has been blown wide open by one of his toughest players.
Nicholls, who followed Bennett from the Rabbitohs to the Dolphins this season, told The Triple M Breakfast with Marto, Margaux and Dan that the super-coach has tricked the media yet again.

“One of my favourite things at Souths, Wayne would always tell us that he wouldn’t read the paper of listen to the media,” Nicholls said.
“Someone got a photo of him down at the local fish and chip shop reading the paper, one of the boys put it up at the team meeting and the boys absolutely loved it.
“So, if he tell you that he doesn’t listen to the media or read the paper, he’s lying.”
