Tex Walker Explains How He Got Ditched From Presenting The Goal Of The Year Award

Tex Walker joined the Saturday Rub and explained how he got ditched from presenting the Goal of the Year award on Brownlow Medal night.

HOW TEX GOT DITCHED FROM PRESENTING GOAL OF THE YEAR:

Billy Brownless had some mail that Tex thought he might have been getting the award when he was called to ask to present.

The big Crow then explained, however, that he’s since been moved on from the duties.

“In the last sort of 48-72 hours I got the Tijuana Brass from that,” Tex said.

“They did ask whether I’d go to rehearsals on the Monday, and I said ‘well, I know sorta how it roughly works, so if I have to go, I’ll go, but if not, I’ll see you Monday night’.

“And I think… I’m not sure whether that sorta put their noses out of joint, but they said ‘don’t worry about it, Channel 7 are gonna do it’.”

Tex also had some feedback for the people who decide on the award.

“Not too many people can kick a 55 metre bomb on their opposite foot and not be in the top three, but anyway!”

Tex was referring to this round 20 Showdown moment, which won Goal of the Round that week:

He has a point, to be fair!
