The Player Leigh Montagna Says Melbourne Should Consider Using To Fill Christian Petracca’s Shoes

Leigh Montagna has suggested a Melbourne half-back to fill Christian Petracca’s shoes in the Demons midfield as they try to cover their injured star.

THE PLAYER JOEY SAYS MELBOURNE SHOULD CONSIDER TO FILL PETRACCA’S SHOES:

“He’s got a bit of a point of difference to that Melbourne midfield with that power and speed, and his ability to get out of traffic,” Joey said on the Midweek Rub.

MORE ON CHRISTIAN PETRACCA:

Joey also said Melbourne’s form coupled with the devastating injury to their talisman in Petracca will be the biggest test of mettle the Dees coaching staff have had for a long time.

“I think this is Simon Goodwin’s biggest challenge as coach, to get this team back on track and on the same page,” he said.

“It’s like they’ve lost belief in their system, and lost belief in what they’re trying to do, and now they’re missing arguably their best or second best player… they’ve got a lot of work to do.”

MORE ON THE MELBOURNE DEMONS:

Daisy Thomas had a different player he was targeting to play Petracca’s role.

“Kozzy Pickett is someone who jumps off the page… for the back half of the season, you’re gonna be a bona-fide mid,” Daisy said the Dees should tell the live wire forward.

“It’s on you to see how many minutes you can get through, we need you have a bigger tank… that’s the obvious pick for me.”
