Max Gawn has revealed he told Christian Petracca to “lift” after the midfielder returned to the field against Collingwood severe injuries, later apologising to his teammate.
“He actually came out in the second quarter and he put in not the best effort I’ve seen Trac put in…” Gawn told the Marty Sheargold Show.
GAWN ON HIS SECOND QUARTER SPRAY TO PETRACCA & PROVIDES INJURY UPDATE:
“I went and had a word to him, now there’s real egg on my face. He was out there dying!”
“I’ve apologised since.”
Gawn added that no one from the club has been able to visit Petracca due to his low immune system following surgery on a Grade 5 lacerated spleen.
Despite Petracca ruling himself out of the home-and-away season on social media, Gawn said he isn’t ruling out the midfielder completely.
“If we’re in the pointy end, it’s going to be hard to say he can’t play.”
