Joey Montagna has backed in Ross Lyon and St Kilda to deliver on their early-season promise and make a deep finals run in 2023.
The Saints sit atop the ladder after Round 6, defying the odds while carrying one of the biggest injury lists in the competition.
“Why can’t they go all the way?,” Joey asked on Triple M’s Midweek Rub.
“The only thing that’s going to stop them is how much they believe they can because in regards to their system and their style and what they’re doing, you’ve got to have an open mind.
“It’s easy to have that narrow mind ‘they can’t continue’, but we kept saying that about Collingwood last year.”
“You just wonder, why can’t they continue this momentum and take it deep into finals?”
The Saints have only conceded 357 points in six games, over 100 less than the next best team so far. Their only loss came at the hands of Collingwood by a goal in round 5.
