Greg Blewett Slates The Decision To Drop Travis Head

Ex-Australian opener and Triple M Cricket caller Greg Blewett has questioned the decision to drop Travis Head from the Australian team for the Test against India in Nagpur.

LISTEN HERE:

“I just could not believe when Travis Head’s name was not read out,” Blewey said on the Rush Hour with Bernie, Blewey and Jars.

“He’s had a golden couple of seasons.

“[He’s] coming off a great year here, [I] spoke to him about three days before he left and he was so upbeat about getting over there, and he was gonna prove everyone wrong, he was gonna go out there and be ultra-aggressive, he was gonna sweep, he had a plan.”

Blewey was scratching his head to try and figure out how the decision was made.

“They’ve had a nine day prep, and the only thing I can think of is that he’s stunk it up [in the lead up]…  the only thing I can think of is if Travis Head said he was gonna go over there and play his shots, and whether that hasn’t transferred,” he said.

“He might have gotten out regularly in the match sim scenarios, possibly.”

Blewey said Head would be frustrated, and would have pleaded his case.

“Travis Head is a pretty strong character, so there’s no doubt he would have put up a big argument, which probably would have gotten anywhere anyway,” he said.

“He would have said ‘come on, it’s the first Test match, give me a crack at it’.”
