Ricky Ponting has revealed the player he firmly believes is “the best cricketer that’s ever played” on the latest episode of The Howie Games.
RICKY PONTING ON THE “BEST CRICKETER THAT’S EVER PLAYED”:
(The clip should start at the right time, but if it doesn’t click here to listen!)
“I think he’s the best and the most underrated, because he’s not talked about pretty much at all, probably because of his personality and his character,” Ponting said to Mark Howard.
“He’s not out there, hasn’t done much media work, so he’s one of those sort of forgotten about ones a little bit.”
MORE CRICKET FROM THE HOWIE GAMES:
Ponting also spoke more broadly about some of the other best batters and bowlers he’d played against, with Wasim Akram, Muttiah Muralitharan and Sachin Tendulkar among some of the other names to come up.
Across the two part chat with Howie, Ponting also spoke about facing Jasprit Bumrah in the nets, playing cricket with his dad and how he hopes to play with his own son, how the leadership lessons he’s taken from cricket have helped him in his business ventures and more.
