Former NRL star and England international George Burgess admits he’s been “very impressed” by the standard of country football in North Queensland.

Burgess, who last played for the Dragons in the NRL, is in the middle of a new rugby league journey with Cairns Brothers in the FNQRL competition.
And while the 153-NRL game veteran may have a lengthy list of accolades, including a 2014 premiership ring with the Rabbitohs, Burgess revealed just how much respect he has for the country league competition.
“The competition is great. I was very impressed with the standard of training in my first week,” Burgess told Triple M.
