Steve Smith plays his 100th Test match tonight in the third Test at Headingley, where Australia can wrap up the Ashes with victory.
Speaking on the Willow Talk podcast, Travis Head recalls the first time he properly met Smith and it’s fair to say Smith got the better of the youngster from South Australia!

Since that fleecing all those years ago, Head has had a front row seat to the Steve Smith Show which has featured thousands or runs, dozens of centuries and countless broken records.
“He’ll go down as one of, if not our greatest, batter of all time,” Head tells Willow Talk.
“He’s the 15th (to play 100 Tests for Australia) which is a huge achievement.
“His numbers are unbelievable. We talk about setting the standard … the standard is normally if you’re averaging 50 in Test cricket you’re going all right and he’s averaging 60 after 99 Test matches.
“Hopefully he’s got a lot left in him, which starts (tonight) in such a big game.”
