Cairns born, twenty-three-year-old, Freestyle skier Jakara Anthony has just broken Australia’s Winter Olympics, 12 year-long, gold medal drought, winning first place in the Women’s Mogul division at the Beijing games.
It’s the first gold medal ever for Australia in this category and the 6th-ever Winter Olympics title. Earlier, Snowboarder Tess Coady won bronze in the women slopestyle snowboarding, scoring Australia’s first medal for this year’s games.
In celebration, we chat to Australia’s first ever Winter Olympic gold medallist – the legendary Steven Bradbury. Bradbury scored the title after winning gold glory in the 1000 short track speed skating at the Salt Lake City 2002 Games.
