Leading NRL journalist Brent Read has poured cold water on Canberra’s Jack Wighton linking up with close mate Latrell Mitchell at the Rabbitohs, declaring it will prove a “salary cap issue” for the club.

The 2020 Dally M Medal winner stunned the NRL world earlier this week after it was revealed he was looking to test himself on the open market for a deal next year, despite having an option in his favour to stay at the Raiders for 2024.
While it’s been widely reported that up to 10 clubs have reached out to the 30-year-old playmaker, Read revealed they will all be competing against a mighty offer from the Dolphins, who have cap space and are among the teams to have reached out to Wighton.
“You can imagine Jack would love to be there, he has an amazing relationship with Latrell,” Read said on Triple M’s Rush Hour.
