Queensland Origin legend Greg Inglis has made his call on who should come in for the injured Maroons for game two in Brisbane.
Jai Arrow and Tom Gilbert will miss the rest of the series through injury, meaning Queensland coach Billy Slater has some decisions to make after the long weekend’s worth of games.
Inglis has run his eye over the contenders and made his call on the Footy Talk podcast.
HEAR GREG INGLIS MAKE HIS MAROONS ORIGIN II REPLACEMENTS:
Queensland can wrap up the series with a win at Suncorp Stadium on 21 June having won game one 26-18 in Adelaide.
Gilbert suffered a dislocated shoulder in game one, an injury that has ruled him out for the rest of the season, while Arrow was the victim of a hip-drop tackle playing for club side Souths. He is expected to miss the remainder oof the Origin series.
Queensland aren’t alone in finding injury replacements.
NSW coach Brad Fittler must fill holes left by Nathan Cleary and Api Koroisau, while Cameron Murray is also in doubt.
Latrell Mitchell missed game one with a calf injury but is a chance to play and his Rabbitohs teammate and Blues aspirant Cody Walker will miss this weekend’s match with a quad injury.
League hard man James Graham says Sharks star Nicho Hynes should take Cleary’s spot at No.7 and has backed Bulldogs half Matt Burton for a bench spot.
“He can play a number of positions,” Graham said on Footy Talk.
“The only position he wouldn’t cover is fullback, but you’ve got plenty of options there.”
The Blues have not won a series after losing the opener then winning game two in Brisbane and the decider.
The two Origin squads are set to be named on Tuesday after the Bulldogs-Eels King’s Birthday match on Monday.
