As New South Wales’ injury list grows longer after the injury to hooker Api Koroisau last night, league legend James Graham has suggested Blues coach Brad Fittler send and SOS to a retired Origin gun.
LISTEN TO FIND OUT JAMES GRAHAM’S ORIGIN TWO BOLTER:
Koroisau suffered a broken jaw in the Tigers’ 28-12 loss to the Titans on the Gold Coast on Thursday night, which will likely rule him out for at least six weeks and the rest of State of Origin this season.
It means Koroisau joins Nathan Cleary in the injury ward, while Latrell Mitchell, Cameron Murray and Cody Walker remain in doubt for game two at Suncorp Stadium.
Aside from Graham’s “smokey”, the former Bulldogs and Dragons hard man says Matt Burton could be the man to play the utility on the bench in the must-win game.
“He can play a number of positions,” Graham said on Footy Talk.
“The only position he wouldn’t cover is fullback but you’ve got plenty of options there.”
Queensland legend Greg Inglis says he’s on board with the Burton call.
“I totally agree with you,” Inglis said.
“He’s been there before, he’s played Origin, he’s played at Suncorp.
“It would be silly not to put him on the bench as 14.
“Bigger body. Smart. Can play footy.”
But when it comes to Graham’s bolter, Inglis knocked the idea on its head immediately.
“Won’t happen.”
