The Aussies will narrow 18 players down to 11 in two weeks’ time for the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India in Nagpur.
For Brad Haddin – as he ran through on Willow Talk – it leaves a few real head-scratchers at the selection table, and a couple of big decisions to be made.
One of those decisions revolves around how many batters the Australians pick, and whether the selectors opt for four bowlers or five.
“I think we might play three spinners, and there’ll be a debutant,” he explained.
“(The) Nagpur wicket turns a lot, that’s where Jason Krejza got 12 wickets…I think we’re going to see a debutant definitely in that series in India, and maybe in the first game.
“If Cameron Green is available for that first Test, he could be the third quick. I think it’ll be interesting, if they do go that way, whether Travis Head plays that first Test match.”
