“We Gave It A Crack”: How Brodie Grundy Moving Again Could Change How We See Player Movement

Daisy Thomas has explained on the Midweek Rub how Brodie Grundy leaving Melbourne after one season could change how player movement is viewed.

HOW BRODIE GRUNDY MOVING COULD CHANGE HOW WE VIEW TRADES:

“Is this a bit of a changing of the guard into how we view trades and how clubs handle trades?” Daisy asked during a discussion about Grundy’s mooted move away from Melbourne.

“They’ve got Brodie over, they’ve had a real idea that this is how it’s gonna work, this is how it’s gonna look.

“And then everyone’s been mature enough to go, shake hands, ‘we gave it a crack, didn’t work, where would you like to go?’”

Damian Barrett was a fan of the sentiment.

“Given he’s still got four years of a contract to run, to be having had as a conversation in the first year… I think it’s a fair way of looking at it.”

Joey Montagna also admired the maturity.

“You try something, hasn’t worked, no drama, you do the right thing and you let him get to his club choice,” he said.

“I can’t see why they would hold him against his will.”

“I still have the Port Adelaide footy club clearly in front for his services,” he said.

“The Swans are keen, and they will still feel they’re a chance… but I feel from what every other club is indicating to me that the Power that leads the way.
