Tom Browne On Potential Changes In The Essendon Footy Department

Triple M Footy news breaker Tom Browne has lifted the lid on some more potential changes in Essendon’s football department.

TOM BROWNE ON FOOTY DEPARTMENT CHANGES AT ESSENDON:

“The shootout at Essendon could be about to continue,” Browne said on the Tom Browne’s News podcast.

“It’s my understanding there could be further change on the cards.

“I’ve been told that Josh Mahoney, who’s their well regarded football boss, is somewhat frustrated.

“He’s doing a lot of AFLW work and will eventually depart that boss of football role.”

Browne said that another Bombers administrator has been taking over some of Mahoney’s responsibilities.

“I understand that (current General Manager) Daniel McPherson is doing a lot of the work in that football role at Essendon at the moment.”

“He’s even been with Brad Scott to a few of the external meetings with the AFL and other clubs… McPherson, I should explain, does work for Josh.

“It’s not by itself a surprise that he’s been at those meetings, but it’s my understanding that there now could be a change in the football role as well at Essendon.”

Browne also said there has been reports that there is some friction between Mahoney and other high profile administrators at Essendon.

“I think it’s been well documented, it was discussed on Footy Classified last night, Caroline Wilson has discussed this, that there’s tension, or has been a difference of opinion between Adrian Dodoro, in his list management role, list boss role, and Josh,” he said.

“I certainly think there’s some merit to that discussion, and I think (new Essendon CEO) Craig Vozzo is now looking at this situation.”
