Yesterday Anthony Albanese announced a new $925m domestic violence scheme, to help tackle the escalating crisis of violence against women.
Addressing the issue, Matty Acton and Stav Davidson from B105’s Stav, Abby & Matt, spoke on the urgent need for action, particularly in the realm of men’s health.
Matty emphasised the role men must play in confronting this crisis, opening up about his personal concerns about his wife’s safety when she’s out.
“I’ll be honest, when my wife goes out on a girl’s night, I don’t sleep… I stay awake the entire night until I hear her come in the door, because I worry that something will happen to her.” said Matty.

“There’s something wrong with the mental health of men at the moment, and something needs to be done there.”
“We need to as a society and as men, be comfortable with saying, ‘My behaviours getting bad and I’m scared I’m going to do something violent’, and then have services for those men.” said Matty.
