Three people have died after a gunman opened fire at a hospital and apartment building in Rotterdam, South Holland.
A lone gunman entered the hospital on Friday (AEST) before opening fire on both patients and medical professionals.
Several people fled the building including patients who were wheeled out in their beds.

Police Chief Fred Westerbeke told media that the shooter has been identified as a 32-year-old student.
The student allegedly shot and killed a 39-year-old woman after shooting and injuring the woman’s 14-year-old daughter at a nearby apartment.
The teenager later died from her injuries.
The shooter is then alleged to have entered the Erasmus Medical Centre before shooting dead a 46-year-old male teacher at the academic hospital.
According to police, the shooter is also alleged to have started fires at both scenes.
Police arrested the man at the hospital who was allegedly in possession of a firearm at the time of his arrest.
The motive behind the shootings is not yet clear, however, the police investigation is ongoing and the shooter is believed to be cooperating with police.
