Sydney Criminal Defence Lawyer Shot In Suspected “Targeted” Attack

A criminal defence lawyer has been shot outside of his home in what appears to be a targeted attack in south-west Sydney on Wednesday morning. 

According to police, reports came in of gun fire at around 10:30AM on Narelle Crescent in Greenacre on Wednesday. 

Upon arriving at the scene, emergency services found 30-year-old Mahmoud Abbas suffering from gunshot wounds. 

Mr Abbas was treated at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital where he remains in stable condition and will soon undergo surgery. 

Police said in a statement that Mr Abbas was outside of his home when the attack took place.

”It’s understood the man was outside the home when he was approached by an unknown person and shot,” police said.

The attack is believed to have been targeted. 

“This is clearly a targeted and brazen shooting,” Detective Superintendent Adam Johnson said. 

This is the second shooting to take place in 24 hours with a man shot dead in Canterbury, Sydney.
