Sydney cop accused of passing restricted info to criminal network

A Sydney police officer attached to the Southwest Metropolitan Region has been charged, accused of passing on restricted information to a criminal network.

The 30-year-old senior constable allegedly accessed the data on five occasions.

In August 2024, officers attached to Professional Standards Command began an investigation under Strike Force Chillawong, to investigate reports restricted police information was being passed onto a criminal network.

Following extensive inquiries, on Monday March 3rd, the 30-year-old was charged with five counts of access/modify restricted data held in computer.

He’s been suspended with pay and his employment status is under review.

He is expected to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Wednesday 9 April 2025.
