Concern arose when the Robinsons alerted authorities that their sons had failed to make contact or arrive at their intended accommodation as scheduled.

Tragically, on Friday morning local time, the bodies of the three missing men were discovered near a cliff on the Pacific coast.

The parents, Debra and Martin Robinson, standing at a beach in San Diego, expressed their grief and called for their sons to be brought home.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Callum and Jake have been murdered,” mother Debra Robinson said.

“Our hearts are broken and the world has become a darker place for us.

“We also mourn the loss of (Jack) Carter Rhoad, a close friend. They were young men enjoying their passion of surfing together.”

The parents travelled across the border into Mexico to identify their sons over the weekend.

“Now it’s time to bring them home to family and friends and the ocean waves in Australia,” Ms Robinson said.

The bodies of Callum and Jake Robinson are thought to remain in Mexico while the family navigates the logistics of repatriating their sons.
