In a tragic incident this morning, a man lost his life after reportedly falling from a hot air balloon flying over Melbourne’s north-east.
The incident unfolded at approximately 7:30am when emergency services were called to Albert Street in Preston following the discovery of the man’s body.

It is believed that the man was riding in a hot air balloon at the time of the incident.
The balloon made a safe landing at Yarra Bend Park after the incident.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
Police are currently in the process of interviewing other occupants of the balloon as well as eyewitnesses to determine the circumstances of the incident.
A report will be revealed by police following the death of the man on Monday, 18 March.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, Albert Street in Preston remains closed between Wood Street and Murray Road.
