Police have arrested eight teenagers in relation to an alleged carjacking on the Gold Coast on Sunday morning.
According to police, 50-year-old Yoko Abe was driving through an Ashmore intersection at around 4AM on Sunday morning when her vehicle was allegedly rammed from behind.
The vehicle is alleged to have followed the woman to Ainsley Avenue where it then stopped, and several occupants got out.
A number of people are then alleged to have approached Ms Abe’s car before dragging her out.
The group of people abandoned the first vehicle which police allege was also stolen.
The woman was transported to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Police located the woman’s car in Logan via helicopter at around 3:50PM on Sunday afternoon.
The vehicle was tracked to Richlands before it pulled over in front of a train station and several teens exited.
The teens were arrested by police a short time later.
Police continued to track the vehicle before it stopped at an Inala home at around 4:40PM on Sunday afternoon where to teenage girl exited.
The girls were arrested shortly after.
The car was finally stopped on Lawson Street after a deflation device was deployed.
The alleged driver then fled the scene on foot before being arrested at a home nearby.
Police have arrested eight teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17-years-old.
