Dozens of people were killed this week in Lebanon in two separate attacks that were unlike anything the world has seen so far in warfare.
Pagers and walkie talkies belonging to militant group Hezbollah were set to detonate at the exact same time. Thousands of people were injured, and 37 have been killed.
While no one has claimed responsibility for the attacks, it has sparked discussions about what modern warfare will look like.

Dr Keith Suter, an expert on global political risk, described the attack as an “act of terrorism.”
Suter said there could be a major escalation of the conflict in the next few days. “My guess is that Hezbollah will be working out how to do something similar against Israel,” he said.
The Lebanon walkie talkie explosions involved intercepting the new devices, planting explosives inside each machine before sending them to customers.

“You’ve got to have inside information about an order being placed. You’ve got to be able to interrupt the supply chain… That is an incredibly intricate job to do.”
Suter said the world is “becoming a more dangerous place,” as countries acquire nuclear weapons and new methods of warfare.
