Cobram locals are grappling with the sudden loss of a 49-year-old woman, Emma Bates.
Ms Bates was found dead at a residence on Campbell Street in Cobram on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene following a distress call, finding Ms Bates tragically succumbed.
On Tuesday afternoon, authorities launched a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
Police arrested a 39-year-old man, who is set to face Shepparton Magistrates Court on Friday, charged with offences related to assault.
Police reveal that Ms Bates and the accused were known to each other.
The Victorian premier, Jacinta Allan, told reporters on Wednesday she could not comment on the circumstances around this tragedy.
“Over the course of this year, we have seen too many women already in 2024 lose their life,” Allan said.
“This has to stop.”
Raymond Fitzpatrick, a longtime Cobram resident, described Ms Bates as “well respected” and someone who effortlessly connected with everyone in town.
“She wouldn’t hesitate to wave or say g’day to anybody, and it’s very tragic,” Mr Fitzpatrick said.
“The family are devastated, and we just want to let them have time in mourning,” he added.
“They’re trying to get their head around why this has happened … to their daughter.”
