It’s one of The Offspring’s biggest hits, but who inspired their 1998 smash Pretty Fly For a White Guy?
Frontman Dexter Holland has told Behind the Music that he saw the subject of the lyric at a mall in America.
“I saw this guy, a regular white suburban kid and he was dressed super ghetto. The sideways hat, the baggy shirt and the jersey and all that. It was so obviously not him. He was so out-there that I noticed. I said to myself out loud ‘That kid’s pretty fly for a white guy’.”
