Australian Rockers Pay Tribute To Michael Gudinski, Two Years On

Michael Gudinski may have left us two years ago, but his impact continues to be felt across the Australian music industry.

This week Ed Sheeran will play the MCG on the second anniversary of his friend and mentor’s passing.

The ARIAs now have the ‘Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist Award’, which has been won by Budjerah and most recently rock band King Stingray.

Artists Michael worked with continue to pay their respects to the iconic figure in what would have been the year he turned 70 and his record label Mushroom turns 50.

“He stood with me through my darkest moments and my most joyous days. Michael was the rock I reached for when life tried to wash me away.”

Jimmy Barnes, On Michael Gudinski

“Michael was a titan of Australian music who touched more lives than we can ever comprehend.”

Ian Kenny, of Birds Of Tokyo on Michael Gudinski

Foo Fighters had a photo of Michael on their drumkit at their Geelong gig last year, while Paul Kelly said the Mushroom boss was “passionate, enthusiastic, loyal, fierce and like all true pioneers, a little bit mad.”
